Who Wants to Leave A Millionaire Taping?

There are three places in America you can go to see a cross section of citizens that may make you rethink your position on random mall shootings or making cars safer. The first is any cruise line. Any. Just pick a port...New York, Miami, Alaska...and watch the families of tractor racers or septic tank repairman toodle around with their fat little arms and legs sticking out of their cargo shorts and their "Gods a Packers Fan" T Shirts slowly getting stained with honey mustard dressing and marinara sauce from their fourth trip to the buffet, at breakfast, all the while clutching their purses and cell phones and eyeing the waiters suspiciously as if the staff really wanted to get their hands on their bedazzled flip phones, and you can start to slowly weep. The second is any outdoor concert that is a benefit for a crop or church rebuilding. Thirdly, and probably worstly ( that's a word...) is a taping of a game show.

One of the many perks of living in New York City is all the free tapings of shows you can see. All you have to do is get up before the sun, wait in line for 6 hours with groups of people who think that Katie Couric is a hoot, and follow the instructions from the sadistic warm up comics that train you like baby seals, and you too can have a story you can tell at Golden Corral next Thanksgiving. One day I was feeling pretty good about life and not being used to that feeling, I thought I'd fuck it up and attend a taping of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. I received an email a few weeks before confirming tickets I forgot I had asked for probably in a drunken haze. (It's very similar to the email I got from EBAY telling me I had been outbid on a jukebox...what jukebox?). Having nothing to do that day, I thought maybe I could audition, win a quick million bucks, and be home in time for a new FaceOff on SYFY. Leaving Queens, and taking a few trains to historic 108th and Lexington in Manhattan, I arrived to see a line forming in front of the Millionaire studios. Taking my place at the back of the line behind a frighteningly round woman wearing a shirt with tiny dogs playing on it and the words Happiness is a Terrier spelled out in bones, I realized this would be a long day.

A man with a clipboard and little tiny laminated dollar bills with our seat numbers came down the line confirming our tickets. When he gave the dog lover hers, she and her...friend? daughter? Prisoner? smiled at each other and pretended they were running off with the money. They laughed and laughed, and I died and died. The line was expanding behind me. An old woman in a white wig with yellow streaks and lipstick on half of her face wanted to know when we could sit. A family from Philadelphia recalled the day they were extras in a scene from Rocky..."and now this!" The woman and her daughter directly behind me were quizzing each other in hopes of getting on the show. They would have nailed it too if all the questions were about lemon bar recipes.

Finally we moved inside. To a holding room. Where we would sit for another 2 hours "warming up" with mock questions from the ABC interns. The first one being a multiple choice whose answer was Anthony Weiner, which delighted the crowd to no end. So much so this asshole charming man made weiner his answer for all the questions. As funny as it sounds. The woman next to me, who took a day off from giving up on life, asked if I would wait in line and take a picture of her with a cardboard cut out of the host Cedric The Entertainer. I thought shed never ask. She seemed shocked that I didn't want a pic of my own, but I told her that later she could take a pic of me with a telephone pole and that disappointed her more.

Finally, we were ready. We moved from the basement up a few flight of stairs to the Millionaire set. They had warned us that it may be overwhelming to some people, and sure enough, the majority of the group looked like they were back on the mother ship. They pointed at lights, and took pictures of larger cameras. We were seated and instructed we would be taking a twenty question quiz to see if anyone could stay and audition for a future show. The man next to me was an old retired postal worker and this was his 4th time there. He was very serious and I really sincerely wanted him to do well and make it. The woman to my left was the terrier woman, and I really sincerely wished a cameraman would fall from the catwalk and crush the shit out of her.

We took the quiz. I did not get a passing grade. We move on now.

Enter the warm up comic who asked people where they were from and then named a comedy club in their city he played at. He had some good one liners though, and razzed the crowd well, but plugged his website so much I thought his last name was dot com. He instructed us how to hoot and holler at every thing Cedric said. How to seem shocked at a wrong answer and crazily ecstatic at a right one. The sheep did their job. Terrier woman stood up waved her floppy arms in the air so hard it looked like two flying squirrels made of polyester were racing. Cedric the Entertainer came out and the crowd erupted. He high fived the crowd, and welcomed us and episode one of three had begun. Then stopped. Different cameras were used. Makeup came out and dabbed the sweat off Cedrics face. Special how in the fuck are they celebrities, the stars of Braxton Family Values, came out and waved to the confused crowd.

The next three and a half hours are a blur of stops and starts. After three questions was a commercial break. Then a teaser filmed for the at home games. Then after each episode, pick up shots were filmed. If Cedric stumbled on a line, or a technical difficulty screwed up the computers, those takes were filmed again and edited into the final show. When one questions multiple choice answers were Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and other philosophers, I knew we were going to be there a while as Cedric, who obviously didn't read the questions ahead of time, looked at the screen like he was trying to make words out of a spilled Scrabble board.

The audience hung in there though. Laughing at horrible jokes, sighing when a contestant got a wrong answer and cheering as someone won $40,00. Memories were made, hearts were broken, and my mailman friend didn't get a chance to audition. Terrier woman and friend? daughter? Prisoner? got up and exclaimed how hungry they were and waddled out of the studio. I knew they would talk about this day until diabetes takes one both of them away. An experience I'll never forget. I hope the Wendy Williams taping is better than this.

"Im Walking Here, And So Can You!"

As summer approaches…oh, it’s already here? As summer is here, the streets of New York City will be flooded with extra tourists, homeless, and the mole people who emerge from the sewers to escape the heat and hot urine smell they grew up with. So as a public service for all visitors to our city, here is a guide on How To Walk In NYC.

So you want to explore the sites of the greatest city on Earth, but going to Urlabari in Nepal is expensive, and you’ve settled for the big apple (named for its abundance of orchards). But they haven’t invented teleportation devices yet (they have but the government doesn’t want us to know) and you need to see what’s under the Brooklyn Bridge or the amazing Arbor Day window displays at Macy’s. What to do? Most people opt for walking. But walking in a crowded city is different than walking in Madison Wisconsin from your car to the Cheesecake Factory. Here are some tips!

• Look up! There lots to see! Thousands of immigrants didn’t make these buildings so tall and these movie posters so big to not be gawked at. Is that barely legal girl in leggings and nothing else on that American Apparel ad looking at you? You bet she is! Did Toys R Us flash a Care Bears Blowout sale you need to know the details for? Hell yes! Is that you on the big screen for Kodak cameras waving at your friends as they try to take a picture of a picture? It sure is, and you just may be discovered dead in an alley Make sure to stop for no reason and point with mouth agape. The locals bumping into you love it. If they scowl and jam their finger in your spine it’s just their way of saying “Hey, thanks for noticing the great city we have here, and if there’s anything I can do for you, like tell you what sweet nuts are, or push you in front of a bus, let me know”

• Walk in zig zag patterns! You know who walks in straight lines? Predictable thoughtful people. Mix it up! You’re on vacation. Oh my God is that an Angry Birds ski cap on the other side of the sidewalk. You better walk right in front of people to see if it is. Just realized you passed the McDonalds you wanted to visit to see if their fries taste different than the ones back home (they don’t)? Double back at lightning speed knocking the cell phone out of the local’s hand who trusted you not to do that but totally understands that you are a monkey who saw something shiny and will forgive you.

• Lock arms and don’t let go! Want to make sure you experience everything with your group of friends leaving no man behind? The best way to do this is to lock arms and walk “Last Supper” style down the street. Two, three, or even ten of you doing this, all wearing your bright yellow “Kalamazoo Crew Vacation 2013” shirts sends the message that you are here to have fun, and also that you keep your money in your fanny packs. By forcing the locals to Red Rover through your group, you are keeping the fun spirit of the city in your hearts, and making them slow down so they too can enjoy every single second of crossing Fifth Avenue.

• It’s raining, grab your giant umbrella! Many people who visit New York have never seen rain before. Very simply, this is water that falls from the sky. No one knows where it comes from or its harmful effects on humans, but rest assured, as long as you follow these instructions, you should be ok. At the first sign of droplets on your person, look at whomever you are walking with (you remember walking right? We covered that earlier) and announce “That’s just our luck right Susan?” ( or whatever the name of your best friend is who just recently divorced and is going to put that man behind her by going crazy in the big city by doing tequila shots at a…gay bar!! ). Then, reach into your M&M oversized shopping bag, or Jansport backpack and retrieve your Bio Dome sized umbrella and open it as soon as you can shoving children to the street. Be sure to keep it as close to your head as possible, poking out a few retinas of passerby’s as you continue your journey to the American Girl store. When you’re finished, pack up the umbrella, and keep it under your arm so it sticks out like a sword piercing people behind you in the stomach to let them know, “Hey, I’m pretty sure I’m the only one on this sidewalk”.

Jaywalking! Do it. Get out there no matter what’s coming down the street. Do it. And do it often

• Escalators! Most people enjoy the lazy carefree experience of an escalator. It’s a chance to unwind and pretend you’re in that Serendipity movie. Stand on either side, left or right. It doesn’t matter. If locals are trying to get past you, just smile and tell them to stop and smell the roses (or vomit, or whatever’s around). I mean, if they were in a hurry, why didn’t they take the stairs? Which brings us to…

Stairs! Be sure to use the zig zag technique on these as well, especially if you have a cane, are holding a baby, or are obese, like really obese, like Michelin Man obese. Older people should make sure to stop every three steps and sigh loudly to announce to everyone “Where am I, and how have I survived here this long?”

Well, I hope this helps. It can be a pretty daunting task getting around, but you can do it. You saved up all year, got that great group hostel rate, and Grouponed the Hell out of Broadway, so walking around is as easy as pie. We’ll see ya this summer!

2013: A Space Odyssey

Marley was dead to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. And then all of them had a bizarre foursome using candlesticks and eggnog in ways that were never intended by Hallmark and Bordon's. And that is why they will never air Ebeneezer Spooge, a perverted Christmas tale ever ever ever. But that's the thing around the holidays. Old stories, "fresh" takes. And I suppose that's what this is. So gather round all ye children and listen to my "all in one giant friggen paragraph" version of A Christmas Carol. On the eve of Christmas, after consuming some 2 pounds of turkey sausage and peach salsa, spirits visited me as many times as I visited the bathroom. Four to be exact. The twists and turns in my stomach felt like a complete season of NASCAR only not as painful. I can only assume that the visions I had were due to the fevers and chills that washed over me all night, but they were all too real. On my first trip from the toilet back to the bed, I saw an eerie green light and a tendril of smoke coming from the living room. As I cautiously made my way to see what it was, I was overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana. And good shit too. My shit. There on the couch was Bob Marley. He looked just like I remembered someone who I have never met would look. Tie dye shirt, long dreads, cut off jean shorts, sandals, and sunglasses. He told me I would be visited by three spirits, did not laugh when I asked if one would be Bacardi, ate the entire thing of Godiva peppermint bark I had bought for my girlfriend, and vanished into heavily smokey air. "Poppy cock" I said out loud temporarily being possessed by Frank Capra. And back to bed I went. The bell for round two clanged in my stomach and off to the bathroom I went. Upon my return I realized I was not alone. And not in the , we are all connected Cloud Atlas group hug way, but in the, there is someone on my bed who wasn't there when I left to empty my insides way. "I am the ghost of Christmas past", she spoke in a thick Russian accent. "I also hope you validate parking". She must have been 20 feet tall if she was a foot, and her hair was made entirely of smoke. She wore a gown that was form fitting. Unfortunately her form was that of an elephant orgy, with lumps and bumps that made no sense. "I know the drill"< I said. "You are to whisk me away to some Christmas past far removed from here spirit, so I can learn a valuable lesson or some such". "Um. No,. Everything's done on Youtube these days", she said taking out a new Samsung Note 10.1 tablet, the finest tablet available in the world. (Looking for sponsorship here) As she pressed play I was whisked back to 1983. A young 11 year old Rory is sitting around a Christmas tree in his Transformers pajamas, eating a bowl of C3PO's, watching A Christmas Story for the first time before TNT gave it it's own network and Broadway somehow raped it into a musical. "Spirit, I remember this Christmas. Because I was there. This is absolutely pointless," I told her. "Wait for it dahlink" she said. And I did. And then it happened. A giant whirling gear hovered over the entire living room, spinning, spiraling and eventually freezing, only to start spinning again. "Sorry," the spirit said, "buffering". Eventually the scene started again but it had skipped a great deal. The tree had been burned to the ground, the television melted, and little 11 year old Rory was now wearing a 1930's flapper outfit and was on top of a poker table surrounded by the cast of the Deer Hunter. Then we were back. I was in my bathroom hunched over dry heaving and the Russian spirit was gone. As I dragged myself back to my bed to hopefully collapse and sleep until the new season of Community started, the second spirit arrived. There was a knock at the door. I forced myself to answer it and slowly opened it. There was a small gnomish man, barely a foot tall holding a giant mirror. "Look inside", he squeaked. I did as he asked. " I see nothing but myself looking back at me spirit," I said. "No shit, it's a mirror," he yelled back. And then he smashed it on the ground, said what the fuck did I expect from the ghost of Christmas present, and ran away. Shaken and confused like a baby that doesn't listen, i went to the bathroom for what was hopefully the final time. But, the room was hot and steamy. Someone was in the shower. I crept ever closer to the curtain, trembling, unsure of what I would find if I dare pull it back. With one hand on the curtain, and one wrapped around a toilet brush, I did just that. A shriek like a dolphin being bludgeoned to death with a clown horn rang out in the apartment. Under the cascading water was death itself. A skeleton with black piercing holes in it's skull where its eyes once were glared back at me clutching a bottle of shampoo. "It says will maintain a full healthy body! Here's hoping!" it exclaimed dumping the entire bottle over itself. "Are you here to show me my future?" I asked timidly. "Sure am. Let me towel off, exfoliate, and we can get going," he said. After what seemed like an eternity, the ghost of Christmas future grabbed my hand and we lept out of the window flying high over the city of New York, past the Empire State Building, past Bryant Park, past Washington Square, past the Empire State Building...again. " Are we lost spirit?", I asked. "No, I ...uh, I thought I saw someone I knew back there. Ah here we are" We landed in Brooklyn at the Greenwood Cemetery. A shallow grave was slowly being filled by two men. The snow was coming down in a flurry of white. "Spirit. Please tell me. Who is in that grave?", I pleaded. But the spirit said nothing. He merely pointed to the stone at the front of the grave. "This one shan't be missed too right too right I am", said the first grave digger. " Why the fuck are you talking like that, you're from Hackensack?" the second man said. "Spirit please, who is in this grave?" I begged again. And then, the two men got up, unblocking my view. And there, on the gravestone read a name. Here lies Mario Lopez. "Spirit, I don't understand." "Well I thought you'd get a kick out of it. His work is terrible", death said. As we returned home I couldn't sleep. It was now 7 in the morning. I ran to my window and threw it open, breaking the glass in the process as I live on the tenth floor and the windows aren't supposed to open. "You there pigeon," I yelled...at a pigeon. "What day is it?" The pigeon did not reply. "Then I haven't missed it! I haven't missed Christmas!" I screamed! I ran to my fridge, opened a beer, smoked a bowl and went back to sleep for 7 hours until the Knicks game was on. I watched it on my new Samsung 62 inch Smart TV. Now that's a damn fine picture. We Shall Overcome, Since We Under Prepared

(This link won't work but what the hell...you have Google) Suggested music: Eddie Vedder's Long Nights
...Like a Cantonese woman selling bootleg DVD's enters a bar, hurricane Sandy blew through New York. Loud, abrasive, carrying terror, horror, and sometimes a Pixar movie. It touched as many of us as it could, and left leaving us to wonder why. Why were we not more prepared? Who is to blame? I understand people wanting the marathon canceled. Even though I wont be able to sell my women's underwear for racers line, Marathongs, the generators can go to better use helping people like Big Ang in Staten Island. Don't know Big Ang? Shame on you. I understand people wanting the marathon to go on. For the city's morale. For the charity money raised. For the chance to see someone vomit on live TV. I understand people being mad at The Red Cross. They haven't acted swiftly enough. The bottled waters not getting to the right people. Their Capellini D'Angelo is under cooked. I understand people being happy with the Red Cross. The amount of food and clothing they collect in such a short time is amazing. They have very patient volunteers. Their Linguine Pescatore is flawless. I understand why some people are mad at other people on Facebook for posting about their every day lives instead of praying or trying to help. They feel trapped and helpless too. They are closer to it than some and see whats happening on the news all the time, all day instead of briefly. They could care less about the perfect waffle picture you took at brunch. I understand why people are mad at people for yelling at them to do more on Facebook. Tragedy happens all the time and you can't help everyone. Why do they only want to volunteer in the wake of disasters, where are they the rest of the time? They only friended you cause you both went to high school together and you requested it on your phone at the reunion and what were they going to say, no? I understand you being mad this blog wont let me do paragraph breaks. Me too. I was lucky during this time. Oh true if I actually had a job, I wouldn't be able to make it, but I had water, power, blankets and my girlfriend. And I posted that people could come over and help themselves to all of it...except the girlfriend. This ain't Hunger Games. ( Does that reference make sense, cause I didn't see the movie) And I was going to try to be clever write some bullshit insight on turning 40. About how things change, and ha ha I lived longer than you thought I would mom, high school friends, and bartenders at Chuy's Tex Mex in Dallas. But not much really changes. We pop out of somewhere that if we really thought about where that is, would make us hide in a giant pot and cover ourselves in carrots like Bugs Bunny in that one episode. Then we learn, we grow, we forget things, we relearn things, we die. It's a Benjamin Buttons world, we just refuse to watch it. I'm still Peter Pan sometimes, but other times you need your shadow to remind you you have one, and everything is real. At forty I'm worried about looking old,(not in appearance but walking into an Apple store and wanting to cry) not ever really knowing where i'll be in the future, hoping people I love stick around a long time and those I do not are always stuck in the longest slowest lines everywhere and maybe get shingles at least once in their life. Getting older means, to me, walking that line about being pushy with your beliefs and thoughts and being pushed over. Appreciating things people do for you and what you have instead of what you're missing. Not bitching about who is driving you to what park at Disney world as you're clutching your free pass. ( I swear, I'm not being paid by Disney...much) New York will overcome. They (or if its alright,I'm going to say we...as I've lived here for ten years now and I'm not going anywhere) have before...WE overcome a lot just to live in here. But we are also rewarded. Do you know how many frozen yogurt places now have salted caramel flavors? But we don't know what lies ahead. Living in the moment is hard, and if we really treated every day like it was our last, no one would go to work, pay bills, or get me my pumpkin latte. A friend of mine passed away last month. He was a sweet funny, hilarious, talented person and it was way too soon. His memorial is the same day as a friends wedding. I'm hoping the day will be spent celebrating life, rather than lamenting the loss of one. I'm talking about the groom (Hi-oh!) That's going to be a long thought heavy day filled with emotions, memories and poorly catered food. We live, we die, and in between we survive things like hurricanes, broken hearts, disasters, Kardashians...nothing changes too much.

My Dearest Gym,

I know. I know. It's been a while. But, let me start by saying, it's not like I'm seeing another gym. Or working out with free weights or getting off at an earlier stop at the subway and walking home. If I work out, I work out in you...ok. I need you to know that. I had great intentions. I was going to run 6 miles a day, maybe take a spin class, concentrate on a particular muscle group each day and really blast some...quads or...stems or something. But I have shitty great excuses every time. And here they are, in one giant paragraph...you can listen to the same song Im listening to as I write this. Sun Kil Moon's Sunshine in Chicago. Id give you the link but this blogspot has shut down everything except splchek. Oh, no there goes that too. I will wait...I promise. I had the tv on as I changed into my gym clothes and was watching what I thought was a long commercial for some drug that allows you to run on the beach while maintaining an erection, but it turned out to be a Burn Notice marathon, and I got sucked in. Nobody won that day Gym. Nobody. On my way out the door I saw a program on my desk from an improv show I did in Fallon Nevada, and started vomiting in my mouth remembering the good times we had there. It was no Vegas, and it sure was no Reno, and actually, it was barely a town, but they paid our management with a check, or sexual favors, or jewelry they made out of baby teeth, or feathers, or secrets or whatever they use for currency, so the show must go on. They put us up in what was less a hotel and more of a holding facility for mismatched smells and furniture. There was a nickel slots arcade attached to the Feuxtell we were staying at. I opened the door for an 80 year old woman with one foot ( I assume the other foot was in the grave) sitting in a homemade wheelchair holding a 7'11 cup of nickels, and as she passed by she said "I feel lucky!" How? Lucky in the way you only have to pay half price for shoes from now on? I was just thinking about a job I had selling knives door to door in Dallas Texas. I had that job for a week. I sold vacuum cleaners with a friend for about 3 days, and was a mover for one day and was fired for locking a family in a storage facility accidentally for 2 hours....ok, not the unit, ( ha...unit) but I locked the gate to the whole place and they were trapped. I hopped over the gate and walked to Taco Bell and waited for my boss. I was not going to stay in there with them, they were pissed. I wrote down "3D Life Experience" on a napkin and have been wracking my brain trying to figure out what I meant by that. ( Have you googled the Sun Kil Moon song yet? You should. Please do. Anyway) It's as nerve wracking as the time I found a matchbook cover with the words "Cheese Machine" scribbled on it in my hand writing. It's like the movie Memento...or Pimento in this case. If you have made it this far, turn to page 45 to meet the professor in the sand-crab cave. My lady and I sublet a place from a French artist in Queens for a month this summer. There was a scary fucking homeless gentleman we called Change, as all he said in a voice as smooth as aquarium gravel was change. Since then, we both lost jobs, I moved, got another new job, moved again, got sick, got better, gained weight, lost weight and watched the first episode of Mob Doctor and hated myself after. When we returned to that neighborhood in Queens, Change was still there. Doing the same thing. So the only thing that stays the same is change. Death Be Not Death

We used to play a game called Heroes, or Champions or something like that in high school. It was a role playing game, and I don't mean someones the chamber maid and someones the tired pilot coming home early and for some reason there's a monkey who is also a lube salesman and it all takes place in a locker room at Penn State in 1998. It was a bunch of "Theater" geeks pretending to save the world by creating characters they wish they were while being nerds they wish they weren't. My superhero was a guy called Voicebox who could mimic any noise and throw his voice anywhere, Useful if a vaudeville show broke out, but not so much when downtown Capital City was being over run with Death Robots from the planet DeathRobotia, ( we tried) SHOULD BE A PARAGRAPH BREAK HERE< BUT THERE WONT BE FOR SOME REASON< SO EVERY TIME I WANT A NEW PARAGRAPH I WILL PUT THE NAME OF A CANDY BAR...KIT KAT There have been so many shootings lately its been overwhelming. I know, people get shot every day (half of them are ex NY Giants players) and so much happens that we only see a small fraction of the shit that goes down. But its like my old exterminator friend used to say who never really existed "If you see one cockroach in your house, that means there's hundreds more hiding in the walls." We had flying cockroaches in Texas growing up, and they looked like the regular ones, until you tried to kill it with a boot and it sprouted wings and flew straight at you, sometimes grazing your face and that was it. You were ruined for the rest of the day. Creepy. We also had scorpions who could jump straight up the length of a house, and once, a Jehovah witness. SNICKERS. Texas had guns. Lots of them. On gun racks in the back of trucks, behind the bars of the Steak N Ales ( a great place to eat steak and also ale, but is no longer around. They introduced escargots to the public and that was its downfall. Not because Dallas wouldn't eat snails, but because fuck the French, am I right?) and at every bar that stayed open past 8pm. I remember on my 21st birthday party we celebrated at a pub and an older lady not with our party grabbed me and asked me to dance by showing me her piece clipped to her belt buckle. Who was I to say no, and also who was I not to get shot? I live in NYC now. More specifically, New York City, and yes, there are shootings. But lately, it seems to be getting closer. And not just shooting. Death. In General. A shooting in a theater in Colorado, to a shooting at the Empire State Building, to a death of a comic I used to play with here in New York. Then there was a shooting in New Jersey recently, so I'm hoping what usually happens happens and all the bad shit stays in Jersey. WHATCHAMACALLIT Oh, my point. No point. Like everything, just no...point. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not one of these guys in Williamsburg Brooklyn brooding about the world situation by eating only what he can find in his couch, and writing songs that rhyme oppression with depression, and defiant with Kobe Bryant all the while working my temp job as a receptionist for an ad agency using the computer to find cheap love seats and old cameras on Craigslist cause I have so much to say about everything and this world just doesn't know...it's just damn, there seems to be more reminders that we're all gonna die than ever before. Is it because I'm not only knocking on 40's door, but because in a mere 2 months I will be answering that door in a coffee stained robe missing the belt, and mad because whoever knocked interrupted my stories? 40's not old, but its a hell of a lot closer to 60 then 21 was. THREE MUSKETEERS. That's an odd name for candy bar by the way. Is the candy packed with French history, or swords? Why isn't there a Joan of Arc Bar that you use to make S'mores? Anywho...death be not proud...that's cool death...just don't be so humble you don't take credit for your work. Make it decided. A German teenager with a T shirt that read "Life Is Beautiful and I No Longer Am Afraid Of Death" stopped to ask me directions to Ground Zero. He was unaware that construction had begun, and in fact, is ready to open soon. He pointed to the skyline at Liberty and Church where we happened to be and asked if this was the place where the buildings were...how you say...fucked? Yes. Yes this is where they were fucked. But, this is also where we are unfucking them. Death be be not proud...death be not ignored or interrupted I'm hoping the afterlife is like your favorite Youtube clips. If they involve Russell Brand though, you go straight to hell...MILKY WAY Death will be a great relief. No more interviews. KATHARINE HEPBURN

Celebrating Chinese New Year with My Adopted Daughter

I googled my first name and the word Days to find my blog as I never remember how to get to it without doing that, and I was surprised that I wasn't the first entry. It was an article entitled Celebrating Chinese New Year with my Adopted Daughter. So, that's the name of my post and story this time. In the real story, Rory is a tiny Asian girl. Much like me, she also enjoys making dumplings, dressing in silk, and drinking sake till shes blind drunk. I know sake's Japanese, but I'm sure they drink it in China too. So, here's my version of the story. A lot of people don't give an assistant manager of a Blimpies with a shady past a break, let alone Asian twins in need of a stable home. But that's just what happened to me OK, I think that's enough to confuse search engines. This blogspot thing isn't recognizing paragraphs, so I have to ramble in one big thing. Seriously. I am spacing each of these words out on their own line and the preview shows one huge glob of words. Recently, I met up with my good friend Doug. Now, a good friendship is like a fine wine. It gets better and stronger with age. Its value increases. Sometimes it has nice legs. A friendship with Doug (last name withheld, although I could add his address, birthday, and work history and if he read this he still wouldn't know it was about him.)however, is like drinking an old zookeepers boot full of kiwi flavored Mad Dog 20/20 and getting punched in the stomach by a paint churner. He is as with it as the last Post It that doesn't realize what has come before it, and as sharp as a GI JOE action figure knife that was dipped in the chocolate river of Wonka: He has longhair like a bass player for 38 Special, missing at least 2 teeth, and you wouldn't feel weird asking him for directions to the Boat Show in ANY CITY...even Phoenix...and now, in short story form, My Adventure Near Death Experience at the Airport From outside of the Delta terminal, Gate E7, I called Doug. He was nice enough to take time out from his daily routines of laughing at cats, and adding Certs to vodka and calling it a Mojito to pick me up form the airport. "Its 6:40 Doug, I'm outside Gate E7," I said. "Ill be there in 30 buddy," came the drawl from the other end. "Thirty minutes?", I said? Alright there must have been traffic. Thirty minutes come and go. My cell phone goes off. "Hey man, what gate? Have you ever driven around this airport?" I had. And so had he for over 22 years. "Gate E7. Delta," I said again. Twenty minutes later I called Doug. He told me he got lost in the airport driving around for the past hour and he ran out of gas. "Remember when you said this airport was like the Death Star?", said Doug. "Yup. Come get me," I said. Twenty minutes later, I call again and get his voicemail. Ten minutes later he calls me to ask what gate and wants to know if Ive tried to drive around this airport. This happen a few more times. I contemplate suicide taking the bus. At 8:40 Sir Doug of Dallas pulls up...at Gate 22. "Im here," he says on the phone. As I guide him into the proper gate, I see a sun burnt face with his tongue out greet me as I throw my suitcase in the back. An overwhelming scent hits me as I slump into the passenger seat. CK1? Drake Noir? Canoe? Some outdated high school cologne Doug seems to be bathing in. "Damn dude, you smell like an 80's prom," I told him. "Of course I do, I'm drunk," he laughed and pulled away. Doug proved his point that it is very difficult navigating thru an airport drinking Jack Daniels out of a Burger King to go cup. After pulling into several parking lots, long term parking lots, employee only parking lots, and once back to gate E7, we arrived at the exit. Doug did not keep his ticket, so its perfectly understandable for him to make a comment about our Indian gate keepers involvement in 9/11 and speed thru the gate without paying yelling I got away with it, I got away with it. The picture of his license plate they took I'm sure was not on his mind at all. Going 90 mph down the highways in all the lanes, I should have jumped. I should have not gotten in the car with him to begin with, but now I was trapped like James Bond, only there was nothing to outsmart here. "You're coming home to meet my cat," Doug exclaimed. Nope,I'm running late and he was taking me to my theater. He insisted I meet his two cats and his dog. Why anyone lets him take care of anything is a mystery. Sarah McLaughlin is going to come to his apartment and take those animals. We sped past a cop who had pulled another car over. I told Doug to look out and he told me a little known Dallas law I wasn't familiar with: Those motherfuckers cant do two stops at the same time. Doug knew physics! Ah, but they can call another cop down the highway and tell them to look out for you I told him. "Let em try, I got this," he yelled reaching under my seat and pulling out a 35. After much screaming and another dose of CK1, I finally convinced Doug to drop me off at the theater. I gave him $20 thru the window and told him to go fuck himself and went to a bar nearby. He texted me 10 minutes later saying he was tired and was staying in. I wondered if he even remembered picking me up, and then I thought he was a phantom, who died long ago and is the stuff of local legend. Should I even mention that I saw him. or would i be branded crazy? Either way, the shepherds pie at this pub was amazing. "Have you ever driven around this airport?" -- Doug Richardson

Things we lost in the Shire

If I were a Mayan right now Id be nervous. 2012 is here, and you are going to look like a dick if the planet doesn't implode like the house in Poltergeist or Angelina Jolie's stomach. TOPICAL! Here are my predictions for 2012. Meet back here in a year to see if I was right.

CRAIGSLIST There will be new listings, such as Assholes Renting Rooms, Very Formal Encounters, Pissed Connections and Mayans seeking Trannys. People will still advertise stoop sales in neighborhoods in Brooklyn that take 4 trains and a bus to get to.

New York New York will add a sixth borough that houses Homeless Hipsters who make their own cheese and shorten their already slanged za for pizza to a sound that is one click of their tongue. It will be on a floating garbage barge in the Hudson called Deathcab and will never touch another piece of land. It will still rank above Staten Island in popularity.

LOST Ill re watch the whole run thinking I might enjoy the ending better and wind up throwing my 4D television out my studio apartment window in Deathcab crushing a girl in dreadlocks playing a mandolin singing a song she wrote about her pet turtle who doesn't have the right to vote.

THE BTK BAND My improvised storytelling band will tour abroad, going to Germany, and lose 9 members in an Oktoberfest accident. They will be replaced by 18 midgets with a drinking problem.

Here are some things I learned, so use my advice next time you're in 2011.

Floods Put things you love and want to keep under your bed. That way, when a pipe bursts in the middle of the night, it ruins them, and you can keep warm with the memories when you're looking for a new place after your landlord told you your alcoholic room mate you found on Craigslist hasn't paid rent in three months even though you paid him, and now he wants to evict you. Stupid floods

Money Sometimes I have money and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I pretend Pez dispensers are money and I have the most coveted one,and I get my food free from Seamless Web...or it seems like its free since it goes on my card and I forget that when I'm chemically enhanced, just like the one time I got a message from EBAY saying I didn't win the Jukebox I bid on....what jukebox?

Evangeline I shriek like a wounded ferret when I see any pics involving her and Lord of the Rings.

May the new year find you before the cops do!

From New Year's on the outlook brightens; good humor lost in a mood of failure returns. I resolve to stop complaining---Leonard Bernstein

My Law and Order SVU script

INT: Law and Order SVU Headquarters. One Police Plaza. The whole squad is watching a group of pictures pinned to a chalkboard. Colored strings are attached...and its, um...say...3:30pm I guess.

Captain: So, we have a three time serial rapist on our hands. He has a fetish for young college girls and he strikes around Gramercy Park.

Detective: Yeah. That bastard. Two blocks from my daughters nannies other family. But that witness in the taxi is long gone

Detective 2: Maybe not. We have camera surveillance from the corner light. theres her licence plate

Detective: Good. But its blurry, getting that number is impossible

Smart Guy: Maybe not. Ive isolated the image using camera enhancement cop stuff we happen to have for stuff like this. There. Clear as day

Detective 2: Maybe not. That could be anyones car.

Detective: No. That's why we pass those out. But it looks like our suspect has no priors.

Counselor: Maybe not. I tried him in Boston once for sexual misconduct. I'd recognize him anywhere. But I have no way of getting his real name.

Ex Wife: Maybe not. I was married to him and I know his real name

Priest: Maybe not. I wasn't certified when I married you two, and the marriage was a sham

Rapist: Maybe not. We got married in a private ceremony two weeks before the real marriage, so I guess its legal.

Lunch Guy:
Who had the Chinese food?

Clerk: Maybe not. Lets have pizza

Thank you

Crazy Train

I wish we were in the age where one could start a post "Dear Reader", without looking like a pompous Mud coffee drinking, tiny glasses, Band of Horses listening,my dogs name means "Beautiful Angel" in Italian, occasionally glancing up and watching CNN and shaking your head back and forth with a pained look on your face even though you don't know whats happening, douche. Cause its fun: Dear Reader, oh dear reader...or Deer Reader...a deer who reads? one who reads bout deers? A porn star from the 70's?
Where was I? Oh yes...on the D train once again. I think there has been a huge influx of crazy people. The last 5 out of 6 times I was on the D train, I have encountered the following characters. Tell me if you know them:

Mr. "Ill blare my 80's boombox to a radio station that barely comes in as loud as I can, and if anyone looks at me Ill shout 'How you like me now, Melvin?'"

Mr "Eating lamb and rice out of his lap...no plate, or container...just his lap"

Ms. "Earbuds in and singing Alicia Keys so loud they can hear it above ground"

Mr. "I know every stop this train makes and will shout as loud as I can when we arrive at them"

Mr "Fuck me? No fuck you. Fuck the hospital! Thats why I left"

Oh my point. My point is I think I just may turn into one of them. I catch myself talking to myself all the time. I know when I feel hungry, I dont have to say out loud that I am. But I do.

Sometimes you get the funhouse mirror effect in the reflections on the trains, and I start making faces, and stretching my arms to see how odd I can look. And sometimes, I do that on the platforms.

If Im sitting, the reflection from my bald spot looks like a halo...its not..not even close...but dare to dream...

I give voices to the rats on the tracks, and pretend they're in a 1920's melodrama about to be run over so the villians can run off with their girlfriends. You know who likes that one? The churro people...the people that sell thousands of churros underground. Where do they get these churros? And who is buying them in bulk?

I may or may not have urinated on someones SUV in Sunset Park last night...but I probably may'd

Sometimes Ill make my bed, and then walk out of the room and try to picture my bed when it wasnt made, then walk back in and get pleasantly surprised. I do the same thing with dishes in the sink, trash in the kitchen, and bodies in the basement.

Heres a recipe: Take the leftover coffee from your coffee maker in the morning and pour it over ice. Add a little milk, vanilla extract, half a packet of hot chocolate mix, and a sweet and low. Stir for a minute, pour it into a cold glass, and throw it down the sink and go buy an ice mochachino you cheap bastard.

"How you like me now Melvin?"

"I have $9m left. It's a decent amount and I'm not looking for sympathy, but it isn't an awful lot for someone who has been at the top of his profession for 40 years." -- Comedian John Cleese after paying his third ex-wife $16m.

Music, Man!

As Ive said before, technology knows whats it doing, and its ready to attack, make us obsolete, and turn the whole damn Earth into Cybertron. If I was a Transformer, I would turn into a limousine, my name would be Stretch, and my powers would enable me to shoot champagne out of twin guns mounted on my hood, and let drunk teenage girls hang out of me screaming "I'm in a limo"...also mounted. Today, my laptop got a virus. From where, I have a few ideas, but that's not important right now. $65 later after a visit to a Korean specialist in Brooklyn who doesn't judge, I find my entire Itunes collection has been erased. Like, everything. The Duran Duran best of...Tegan and Sara do Each Other...Eddie Murphy's My Girl Wants to Party All The Time Redux...even Snow Patrols less whiny shit. Now, while this is indeed a reason to panic, I did find I can buy back everything I lost in my Itunes account for 33 cents a pop. So, going thru all my music I purchased in the last 7 years is bringing back wanted, unwanted, dark, disturbing, fun, and fuzzy memories. Allow me to share.

Winning Days by The Vines: Ah, I remember listening to this as I packed to move out of my first place in Brooklyn where my paranoid Craigslist roommate had taken the doors off of my room in retaliation for me going into his room and stealing some of his fire from his lighter. Not the lighter, juuuuuust the fire.

Fake Empire by the National: Woke up to this one at 7am blaring from my Ipod on the steps of the library on 42nd. I was late for a mascot gig for PBS....sorry kids.

I am Always the One who Calls by Pedro the Lion: Would listen to this and pretend I was in a bad indie movie about poets or something and emerge out of a subway entrance in slow motion.

All Night Long by Peter Murphy: One of a dozen 80's songs I purchased when I first moved to New York when I was feeling far from home and missed the high school days when there were really no responsibilities or worries and you could just listen to music and enjoy it I think Ill throw that on as I finish this.

Chocolate by Snow Patrol: Reminds me of waiting on the Queensbourogh Plaza platform for the 7 train to take me to a girl...looking at the NY skyline...thinking I had it all figured out...and I did! Should of written it down...ah well...

Don't let it Fade by Sundays Best: Hanging flyer's in Times Square for the first standup show I hosted. Pop-Pops Comedy Show in honor of my recently deceased grandfather. My grandmother is still alive, but I have the flyer's ready....

Yo ho ho, A Pirates Life for me by the Toucan Pirates: I..have no idea

Sold as Seen by I Am Kloot: Used to listen to this as I sold old printers and monitors out of the lobby of an old reception job I had in SOHO...anywho

Wonder if the Snow Will Settle by The Cedars: Id put it on as I pretended to shovel my porch in Queens...it would frustrate my roommate cause I took too long so he would just shovel and never ask me to again...sucker...Id totally pinch his weed when he did this.

The Recluse by Cursive: This song is awesome. I cant pinpoint a specific era when I was into it, but I know I would air guitar the rifts to impress ladies as I strolled through Central Park looking for a good place to smoke pinched weed.

Wow. Music. it sure is....it sure is.

my cell phone is dying, my tv shifts from color to black and white, my toaster wont cook bagels, my playstation 3 acts like dvd's put into it are some form of rape, and my Ipods battery needs to be charged 23 hours a day....look out..we will all be at the mercy of machines before you know it. Transform and roll out..

Dougrise, Dougset (or Doug-Out)

I told you I would go months at a time not writing this here wordblog thingie...but Im back so rest easy both my followers. Ok..so..for 10 glorious weeks I had an old friend from Dallas stay with me. We'll call him Doug because his real name is Douglass so don't tell. Doug is kind of a good ol boy neurotic comic from Dallas who has never been to New York...who has some incredibly fun interesting ways to view life and the city. (He was very excited to land at "La Gordita" airport) He also doesn't know how to use the Internet, so he probably wont see this...but if he does, he'll think its funny...(probably, because of the $1 Bud Select Tallboys in the bodega across the street from us...he will read it for the first time himself...) Ive scripted out a few real conversations we had when he was here. Feel free to use these on auditions.

Allow me to Venti

I dont care what side of the fence you're on about the ending of Lost, or if you took advantage of Starbucks Happy Hour with half price Fraps, (which they should have called Frappy Hour..why didn't they call me first) or if you're as confused as I am how KFC is a sponsoring the cure for breast cancer....I mean...good for them, but they serve more breasts then anyone..they are part of the problem...I want to talk about one thing: the economy. Or moreover, how I make ten bucks stretch into a week of food at the C Town. Five yogurts for $2 and four bagels for a $1 takes care of breakfast. Thanks to my man Manny and his son Sonny at the deli, they give me a little extra cold cuts by the pound so for $4 I get half pound of white American cheese (not racist...I forgot they made such a thing and like it better now) and half pound of honey glazed turkey. With the 2 bagels leftover from breakfast, that's sandwiches. A Poland Springs gallon of water for 99 cents takes care of my water needs, and 89 cents for angel hair pasta and 99 cents for the sauce. Pasta can last 2 days. I think the math is right. This way I can spend $40 a week on wings, $60 on beer, $50 on entertainment, and the rest on Potpourri...so, I guess I do have my priorities in order.

My friend, we'll call Ozzy, moved in with me. Showing him around New York is both fun as I rediscover why this city rocks (sweet nuts, The Muppet Workshop at FAO Schwartz, S'mac...none of these he was interested in) and funny to see how he would grab every flyer someone in Times Square would give him. Were making wallpaper with them in one room. That's right...we may even get curtains....

I have many screenplays in my head right now. If someone can pick them up and write them, Id appreciate it. Ill buy snacks.

I did a show in Nevada and found it is indeed pronounced Nevada like bad....not Nevada like odd...or maybe its the other way around, but they get mad or mod when youre wrong.

Many shows coming up...a fun Artprov with a new artist,a rocking good few shows with the BTK band, and some solo music work in the middle of June. None of which pay, but I have plenty of yogurt and pasta to last a while.

There is a small chance I will be in China when next I write. Ill let ya know

Avatar drains a three...

Watching the Avatar Promo...I mean, NBA Playoffs, is consuming my entire Sunday. Usually on Sundays I like to sleep in till 1pm, compare coffee in my neighborhood (Pizza by The Park..excellent...Xinags Deli...taste like burnt hair) and pretend I have a wife by yelling "Ill be back later, get off my back" every time I leave the house. But today, when all is said and done, I will have watched 4 games, 12 hours of basketball. The turn around from my teens to now is amazing. I wasn't into sports at all in high school. In soccer, my position was the one where you kick the ball between the orange cones on the sideline. I played baseball to get the pizza party afterwards. My dad would yell at me when I asked who he was voting for in the game, or if he liked the other players costumes. But now, I'm sports obsessed. Except for hockey. Its just..soo....Canadien. Even FOX knew it was boring a few years ago when they made the puck glow so you could follow it. And FOX had the PJ'S! SO they know boring.

Nothing but net. This is why fish don't like basketball...(that joke is for my 5 year old fans)

This week, I performed in Aurora New York. A college town where there are 550 students, one bar, one supermarket, and countless cows. the cows loved us. The show was great, and makes me wonder what would have happened if I went to college. What happened, what distracted me from the college path...oh, Extreme Makeover Home Edition is on!

I also did a show Friday in Baton Rogue. The Red Stick. Muggy, hot, and overcast. And that was the women! Ha ha ha..oh..save it for the show in Modesto Rory.

Hope everyone had a great 4 20 ...I did. From what I remember I did...pizza was consumed, songs were sung, and dreams were fulfilled. Memory loss? probably, but totally worth it.

Hope everyone had a great 4 20...

I didn't give an old lady my seat on the train a few weeks ago. I asked a guy who obviously whitened his teeth if he would smile at the sidewalk so I could find my contact lens. I was given change for a twenty instead of the ten I gave for coffee and for a moment thought about not saying anything. So, maybe it was fate, karma, or wrong place right time for the mugging to happen. When the guy grabbed my bag (yes, I'm an 80 year old woman) I ran after him. So at least I know my natural reaction is not to scream like a 10 year old girl who saw the Jonas Brothers sex tape, but instead to blindly run in the face of danger. The 8 drinks in me didn't hurt either

Making ends meet is getting harder and harder because there seem to be new ends every day. And how many times must ends meet? It seems like some ends have Alzheimer's and need to meet every month. Doesn't any end know each other anymore? What a world.

I haven't had a phone for 24 hours...I feel naked. That and I have no clothes on...but the people at this Starbucks don't seem to mind...

I'm so glad baseball season is back. Theres a game on every day at almost every time, so theres never a bad reason to be in a bar. Unless that bar is Applebees. Then theres never a good reason for that.

I owe the IRS a tidy sum of money. I guess that's why my initials are in there...

If April Showers really bring May Flowers, then these should be some BIG ASS Flowers coming my way. I'm going to lay down...hopefully to dream of a more innocent time...like 26 hours ago.

So, the ST Paticks day party I crash every year...I think I mentioned it...was canceled this year. The recession finally touched me. So, some mates of mine (Too British? ) Freund's of mine sweet talked a very dead Japanese place into giving us 4 beers each and an appetizer for 20 bones. It was the fourth place we tried, but our new Malaysian friends Tim and Ricky helped spurn a new St Paddys tradition: Rock shrimp and Asahi.

If NYC turns into LA...I don't know where Ill go. Its slowly happening. Theres more and more places that put on little crappy shows, more places selling fish tacos, and now, more people dressed in ratted out costumes. I saw a Grinch, a cookie monster, a Mickey Mouse, and two Elmos that looked like they crawled out of the Hudson into Times Square and were charging five bucks a pop for your kid to hug them, and take a picture of them contracting the plague. If that was a real Mickey, thered be two handlers, a photographer, and Roy Disney's frozen head watching the whole thing.

I actually had a really nice time in Sheridan Wyoming. Almost had a threesome with a very drunk well endowed...ya know what...I dont have to write everything.

WIll do my taxes on my next day off. Since I don't have a job, I really don't have a "day Off" so Ill have to wait till that happens first.

South Park is still the funiest show on tv...on the flip side, did we really need a brand new Parenthood?

Dream A Nothing Dream

I was checking out of this hotel, and the manager came over as I was trying to hide the 20 packets of hot chocolate I swiped form the breakfast bar and said there was a problem with my bill. That I had walked a tab the night before at the restaurant. I said, Oh no lady, I put cash in the check thingie, I clearly remember doing that. She said the waitress was in tears because I had stiffed her, and I needed to pay right away. I again stated I had paid, and someone from their staff obviously took the money. And to make things worst...I woke up. This was a dream. A boring dream. The one place where anything can happen, and Im dreaming an argument with a La Quinta day manager. Ah, one day!

A friend of mine took off on a cruise ship job for a while, and Im babysitting his CD collection. Over 600 CD's,and a lot from the 80's and 90's. So, maybe my dreams will be flashbacks of great times from high school and my early 20s's...theres REMS Murmur, the album I listened to as I drank my first scotch and hit on my theater teacher at a cast party. Or Welcome to The Beautiful South's songs I would listen to as I drank Mad Dog 20/20 and rolled off of Matt Viberts rooftop. Or The Trash Can Sinatras beautiful haunting tunes that enhanced the weed I would smoke in Denton during my "college years"* . Actually, its a wonder I have any memories at all.

ST Patricks Day is tomorrow...so...this may be my last post...every year for the last 6 years Ive crashed this great party of a hedge fund something or other who has an office right in midtown Manhattan overlooking the parade, with free beer, booze, food, bands, and its packed. I'm sneaking in 7 people. I think we may be a band called...oh lets say...the Shilalies...I'm sure I didn't spell that right...and spellcheck on here says its spelled Chilies....so...maybe we'll go as the baby Back Ribs.

Off to Denver for some shows Thursday. Then Montana. So, note to self, (If I'm reading this...(Id be surprised if anyone does) Bring Xanex. Its in your Hulk Pez Dispenser.

I cant figure out how to program my new clock radio, so Im waiting till midnight to plug it in....

This car smells funny

Seven shows in 4 days. A new personal record. And here's who I got to portray: An old man who went to the theater on the wrong day, a snowboarder with a head injury, an ignorant mayor named Mr Mayor, Santa Claus, a T rex, a college student from Nova Scotia, a policeman, someones mom, another policeman, a king, a teacher who took 12 years of 12th grade before teaching it, a bartender who spikes his drinks with Windex, a chicken, a soapy inmate, and a construction worker who was a virgin. What day is it?

See if you can guess how my picture relates to my post this week....collect them all!

Some days living in New York is like being on the set of a movie, and everything seems fun and alive.
Some days living in New York you get on what you think is an empty car on the D Train, only to find a homeless man taking a dump in there and a small frightened Vietnamese lady in the corner holding her nose, and you cant get out because the doors just shut, and the doors between cars are locked, and then the D Train stops for 6 minutes due to train traffic and you have to breathe through your nose, or you will throw up, and you block your ears so as not to hear the strains coming from the man using the train as his executive bathroom, and then the doors finally open, and you run out waving your hands like they're on fire in the air warning people to not go in there, and it all seems so completely disgusting you wonder why you moved here in the first place.
But sometimes, its like the first thing I said.

I can not find The Connells Fun and Games CD ( cassette when it first came out) anywhere. Not on Itunes, Pandora, Lastfm, or Dizzler.com. I know this album (cassette actually) existed. not like the other things I made up, like dwarf's living in the vents of my house, the talking dog Perky whom I shared a special relationship with, or a happy family. Anyway, if you see it, grab it for me...Ill get ya back...

Resin works just fine in a pinch...ya know?

ST Patricks Day is a mere 3 weeks away....I haven't even started shopping. But, I'm on the top of a list for a liver at a hospital in upstate New York, so Ive got that...
We are in that weird area of sports when there is no baseball or football, and hockey is suspended because of the Winter Olympics, which still happens much to my surprise. I thought it was a test, like The West Coast Avengers spin-off, or After Mash. I wonder if they'll have After Lost, or Law and Order Babies. I would totally watch that ..for a while...

Ribbon Cutting

I always thought ribbon cutting ceremonies were only for government officials, or people who were about to be attacked by a supervillian like the Green Goblin. But I went to one yesterday. And it was great. And it was catered! The 52nd Street Project is a great theater I volunteer at, and they moved to their new digs and celebrated with mini meatball sandwiches and a speech from Lewis Black. He was great, and he teared up a bit talking about his late brother, whom he named the theater after, and it was very moving. Edie Falco was there too and we talked about how great the kids were, and the project, and I thought she was into it despite frantically pushing the button for the elevator.

Its 4pm, time to open the blinds and see whats going on, and who's out there....whoa...this is why I try to sleep during the daylight hours

If youre not a fan of my improv band, I would love you to be. BTK rocked it out last night. At first I thought it was a dream, but now it burns when I pee, so I know it was all real.

Valentines day rapidly approaches, so look out local massage parlors in my neighborhood. This year with the money I would have spent taking a girl to a lovely prix fixe dinner at a place that ends in Tratorria, I will donate all the money to my favorite charity. Lets get Betty White to host SNL.
